Ultrabook™ adalah sebuah ultraportable laptop yang merupakan trademark dari Intel. Ultrabook™ adalah kategori baru perangkat ultra responsif, ultra menawan, dan ultra gaya dengan tebal yang kurang dari satu inchi dan hidup secepat kilat. Pada intinya teknologi Ultrabook diciptakan untuk mengisi gap antara laptop yang begitu berat dengan komputer tablet sehingga dihasilkan produk yang tipis, ringan namun dengan performance yang standar ditenagai oleu CULV Prosesor.
Dengan memegang merek dagang Ultrabook ini, Intel berharap agar pada akhir tahun 2012, 40 % pengguna laptop akan beralih ke Ultrabook. Hal ini seiring dengan tujuan intel untuk menghidupkan kembali kompetisi dari komputer tablet yang diusung saingannya yang berbasis ARM Prosessor.
Pada tahun 2011 yang lalu merupakan phase pertama dari perkembangan generasi Ultrabook ini. Diketahui bahwa memang Intel telah merancang 3 generasi Ultrabook. Yaitu Ultrabook Generasi pertama (2011), Ultrabook generasi kedua (2012) dan Ultrabook Generasi ketiga (2013).
Tiga fase Ultrabooks direncanakan untuk menyelaraskan dengan merilis model prosessor tegangan rendah Sandy Bridge (Ultrabook Generasi Pertama), Ivy Bridge (Ultrabook Generasi Kedua), dan Haswell (Ultrabook Generasi Kedua). Adapun ciri-ciri dari Ultrabook generasi pertama adalah :
- Tipis – kurang dari 20 mm (0,8 inci) ketebalan
- Ringan – kurang dari 1,4 kg (3,1 pon)
- Baterai yang tahan lama – 5 sampai 8 + jam
- Dapat menggunakan SSD berbasis flash
- Menggunakan CULV (17 W TDP ) Intel Sandy Bridge mobile prosesor
- Core i5-2467M (1,6 GHz)
- Core i5-2557M (1,7 GHz)
